Henrik Hartmann has studied forest sciences and did a PhD in forest ecology in Canada. His ecophysiological research addresses climate-related tree mortality mechanisms and physiological responses of trees during stress. He is the coordinator of the IUFRO Task Force on monitoring global tree mortality patterns and trends and a founding member of the International Tree Mortality Network.
